Notice How You Feel
"Notice How You Feel"
These are the words of my current business mentor, Sunni Chapman (no affiliation, just a fan).A CA friend sent me the below graphic (doodle is mine, by Bex, my artist name) which seemed fitting for this Friday where I'm feeling a bit tender and sore from my fundraising expansion efforts.
Another idea from Sunni, something she's observed in her life, is expansion and contraction. It is nice that, as a fellow introvert, she talks about the desire to contract after expanding. For me, being an introvert and a bit shy is sometimes at odds with my leadership/pioneer gift, so I frequently feel over-exposed, vulnerable, and cringy after a period of expansion.
I have been working on fundraising ideas for my non-profit (I will gladly accept donations here if you're ever wandering that way!) because I think the women I support in Ecuador and Aberdeen, WA, do AMAZING community work. Fundraising has me feeling all the feels of inadequacy, shame, hope, excitement (I do love the work!), and loneliness.
I recently (hopefully!) encouraged Mama Nous (no affiliation just a fan!) to put her work out there more because it's a gift to humanity (gentle *re*parenting and emotion songs? Yes please!!).
As I settle in for my tasks this Funday Friday (work is fun and fun is work), I am noticing how I feel.
Calling the bank? Apprehensive and resigned to my hold times.
Writing thank yous? Happy anticipation and a bit scattered.
Reorganizing my wallet? Pure joy.
New business contacts? Fear and hope.
