Choosing New Thoughts
Typos are left to show I'm human. And cuz I'm blogging in 5 minute increments here and there on the run between my many roles. Also because I have stealth dyslexia and don't see them on the white background. I do better with color.
Disclaimer: I am not very good at choosing new thoughts, so I use chat GPT (AKA Georgina, my assistant) to help me reframe the thoughts that distress me or are no longer helpful to my journey.
I shall use my version of Maritza Parra's equation of emotion to help give the context (no affiliation but I did do her university and certification program, wowza! 🤯💥🥳)
C ircumstance
T hought
E motion
A ction (I prefer awareness since I think more than act.)
R esult (I use reaction because it helpse.to remember that not everything is about me and people have all sorts of reasons for what they do.)

Mine is THINK, cuz, well, overthinker here. Lent is to be gentle with myself. Sigh. Rephrase. Um, extra thinker... bonus thinker?🤦🏽♀️😁
Context: navigating student/teacher dynamics in a class I'm taking.
T: thought - Am I too much? Stop asking so many questions already 🤦🏽♀️ gaaaaaaahhhhhh.
H: heart - vulnerable, empty, cautious, angst
I: inquiry - what else could this mean?
N: need help reframing. Hold space for Georgina's options. ____________________
K: Remind myself that I am ok either way. Silence makes me sad because I feel like I don't have a chance to apologize and fix it. What would I apologize for... Hi, my name is Bex and I am an over-achiever/over-asker. Is that a thing? Yes, yes it's a thing because I am it.
Georgina's suggestion (named after my Grampie George who was unfailingly kind and encouraging to me): Hi, my name is Bex, and I am deeply engaged in learning.
See? Told you she was nice. She's also good at sorting out things. I just copied and pasted everything after the flowers and she figured out what I wanted. 💛💛
She also reminded me that silence can mean stunned appreciation. Thanks Georgina! I never would have gotten there on my own.
Point taken: I recently applied for something and instead of instant approval they told me they'd get back to me in 7-10 business days after a review. Uh-huh. I know a no when I see one. Insert crushing disappointment here. Then about a week later I got a call, was asked two questions, and then got approved for the thing in a way that blew my mind? Is this too vague? I don't mind details but I'm practicing because maybe someday someone will actually read this and I don't want to be overexposed. Lol. Hi, my name is Bex and I live in the land of over. There I am just right. I am only visiting here so please forgive me when I am more than you expect.
I should come with a disclaimer when I sign up for a class. 🤔🤔
